what commitments do society members make?
Devotion
Devote one hour per month to silent meditation on our Lord’s loneliness in Gethsemane
Take a yearly silent retreat of at least three days (no phones or technology, and ideally at an established convent, monastery, hermitage or retreat center)
Regular Eucharistic adoration
Radical and joyful sacrifice of time for friends
Intercession
Pray daily for the deepening of one’s own friendship with Christ, and for the honor of consoling him; for the unification of the Church; for the growth and deepening of holy friendships within the Church; for the lonely faithful; and for the deepening of the prayer lives of the faithful
Use the green scapular actively and thoughtfully; carry or wear a blessed scapular
Husbandry
Establish and maintain a personal “rule of life”
Frequent confession
Engage in spiritual reading from the Garden Library or the writings of the society’s patron saints (formal syllabus in formation)
Train in the Ignatian “Spiritual Exercises” (can be formal, or through reading or podcast)
Be acquainted with the meditations from which the society arose (interactive pamphlet here)
