Offerings of the flowers

what commitments do society members make?

Devotion

  • Devote one hour per month to silent meditation on our Lord’s loneliness in Gethsemane

  • Take a yearly silent retreat of at least three days (no phones or technology, and ideally at an established convent, monastery, hermitage or retreat center)

  • Regular Eucharistic adoration

  • Radical and joyful sacrifice of time for friends

Intercession

  • Pray daily for the deepening of one’s own friendship with Christ, and for the honor of consoling him; for the unification of the Church; for the growth and deepening of holy friendships within the Church; for the lonely faithful; and for the deepening of the prayer lives of the faithful

  • Use the green scapular actively and thoughtfully; carry or wear a blessed scapular

Husbandry

  • Establish and maintain a personal “rule of life”

  • Frequent confession

  • Engage in spiritual reading from the Garden Library or the writings of the society’s patron saints (formal syllabus in formation)

  • Train in the Ignatian “Spiritual Exercises” (can be formal, or through reading or podcast)
